South African Afro-Pop legend Winnie Khumalo has passed away at the age of 51 after a brief illness.
Her musical journey began in the 1980s when she collaborated with renowned producer Chicco Thwala and iconic singer Brenda Fassie, providing backing vocals.
In 2008, after a long break, Winnie made a remarkable comeback with her hit single “Live My Life,” reintroducing herself to the music scene.
Over the years, she contributed her talent to numerous songs, including Brothers Of Peace’s hit “Bumper 2 Bumper,” Theo Kgosinkwe’s “Wenze Kahle,” Black Motion’s “Electronic Maskandi,” Oskido’s “We Baba,” DJ Christos’ “Ngcongco Lo Mfazi,” and many more.
Winnie Khumalo was also the proud mother of singer Rethabile Khumalo, known for hits like “Ntyilo Ntyilo” and “Uvalo,” and she also featured on Makhadzi’s track “Anazi Lutho.”
Rest in peace to a true icon.
