
South African artist Lwandile Mtshali, professionally known as Lwah Ndlunkulu, has continued to captivate audiences with her unique blend of traditional African sounds and contemporary music genres. Musical Journey
After her initial releases, Lwah Ndlunkulu’s career gained significant momentum with the August 2022 release of “Ithuba,” featuring Siya Ntuli. This track marked a turning point, propelling her into the national spotlight. In January 2023, she followed up with the single “Ngiyeza,” which achieved impressive rankings across various music platforms within its first week.
In November 2023, Lwah Ndlunkulu released her debut studio album, “Imizwa,” under Inkabi Records. The album, produced by Xowla, features 12 tracks and includes collaborations with artists like Mzukulu and Xowla. “Imizwa” received critical acclaim, reaching number one on Spotify’s Top Albums Chart and surpassing two million streams within ten days of its release. The album also earned her nominations for Best African Pop at the 2024 Metro FM Music Awards and multiple categories at the 30th South African Music Awards, including Female Artist of the Year and Best Afro Pop Album.
On August 9, 2024, Lwah Ndlunkulu released a deluxe version of “Imizwa,” adding six new tracks to the original album. This release further solidified her presence in the South African music scene. Her collaboration with Mthandeni SK on the single “Paris,” released on August 9, 2023, achieved multi-platinum status and won the Motsepe Foundation Record of the Year at the 30th South African Music Awards.
Recent Endeavors
In August 2024, Lwah Ndlunkulu was honored with the Artist of the Year award at the Basadi in Music Awards. To celebrate this achievement and connect with her fans, she hosted a picnic event at Rietvlei Zoo Farm on September 29, 2024.
Looking ahead, Lwah Ndlunkulu has expressed her ambition to collaborate with international artists, notably Rihanna, in her upcoming sophomore album. While specific details about the album remain under wraps, she has released a new single titled “Mnakwethu,” which delves into themes of love and betrayal, offering a glimpse into the direction of her forthcoming project.
