KrTC of Hip Hop biography: Thamsanqa Sibandze, known as KrTC (pronounced “Courtesy”) of Hip Hop, is a Swazi rapper, songwriter, and occasional vocalist, born on April 25th. He has been instrumental in elevating hip hop within Eswatini’s music scene.

Early Life and Musical Beginnings

KrTC began his musical journey at a time when hip hop was not widely recognized in Eswatini. Rapping in both English and Swati, he crafted tracks ranging from dancefloor anthems to motivational songs, aiming to inspire and entertain.

Siyinqaba and Breakthrough

In 2011, KrTC collaborated with producer and rapper Muzi “Mozaik” Ngwenya to form the duo Siyinqaba. Their self-titled album featured contributions from several renowned Swazi artists. The project’s success led to performances in South Africa and the inclusion of one of their tracks on the reality show Big Brother Africa. This exposure significantly boosted their profile in the region.

Solo Ventures and Media Presence

Building on the momentum, KrTC released his solo album Hip Hop in 3D in 2013. Beyond his music career, he co-hosted ‘Swazi Rhythm,’ a radio program dedicated to promoting local artists across various genres. Demonstrating his commitment to nurturing talent, KrTC co-founded HeadCount, a platform focused on developing young hip hop artists. He also established the group Mic’aholix, comprising rappers, a beatboxer, and a poet, performing at numerous events with consistent excellence.
